Event - Ash Wednesday Assembly
6 March 2019
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Lent is a time when we can try to be better and to love God more by fasting, praying and almsgiving.
The whole school gathered in the hall for an assembly during which everyone received the ashes and made a Lenten promise. The ashes are made from last year’s palms and holy water.
Father Paul and Mrs Westwood drew a cross with ash on everyone’s forehead and said, “Turn away from sin and be faithful to the gospel”.
During Lent we will all try our best to keep our Lenten promises.
