Event - Goodbye to Mrs Jones
20 July 2016
Not many teachers can say that they have worked for 35 years at one school – but Mrs Jones can!
Mrs Jones began working at St. Chad’s back in September 1981 and has been Deputy Head since 2007. She has worked for four different Headteachers during that time and has taught over a thousand children! There are even members of staff in St. Chad’s that were taught by Mrs Jones – all testament to her outstanding teaching skills.
We couldn’t give Mrs Jones just a simple good-bye, so a series of events were spread over the last week in school.
The children entertained Mrs Jones with every class singing or reciting a poem – many about her!
Father Paul and Father Lloyd concelebrated at a Mass of thanksgiving which was attended by staff past and present; Academy committee members; parents and children. This was followed by a reception in the school hall.
During the last couple of weeks many of the parents and past pupils were busy voting for Mrs Jones as 'Best in Class' in the competition organised by Intu Merry Hill. She was very surprised to win this competition and overwhelmed by the lovely comment made about her.
Mrs Jones final day in school ended with one last surprise organised by the staff: a vintage tea party was held in her honour.
While Mrs Jones will be greatly missed by all at St. Chad’s, everyone wishes her a long and happy retirement.
